Maa Chandi Devi, Haridwar

Chandi Devi Temple -- in the holy city of Haridwar, is a temple dedicated to Goddess Chandi Devi. This temple of Chandi Devi is one of the most famous ones in India. The place is of great religious importance is also known as Siddh peeth, as it is believed to have powers to fulfill the wishes of devotees. The temple is situated atop the Neel Parvat on the Eastern summit of the Sivalik Hills, the southernmost mountain chain of the Himalayas. According to legend, it is believed that Goddess Chandika Devi had rested for a short while on Neel Parvat, after killing the demon kings Shumbh and Nishumbh.

There is a facility to reach the temple by the Udan Khatola Ropeway. The Ropeway has also become a prime attraction for tourists due to the breathtaking views and the adventure that it offers. The cabins are quite colourful and enable a bird’s eye view of the entire town, along with the meandering Ganges.
